For those of you wondering if this grill gets hot enough into cook steaks... well it definite does. I had looked into the more expensive unit like the Solaire Anywhere grill because of its infrared feature, but after reading about how it tends over burn and undercook everything, I opted for this Q-100. It surprisingly gets hot enough toward seared 1.25" rib-eye steaks due toward the heat conductive iron-cast grate. By the way, the bigger 16oz propane bottle now fits the grill without modification - it even said so in the owner's manual. Also, save yourself money by getting the Charbroil 4 foot adapter hose (model #4623) at Home Depot instead of the one from Weber. From a guy who's accustomed into grilling steaks on a Viking Ultra-Premium T-Series grill, I can say that this is a nice portable unit that doesn't sacrifice much on performance. I bought one of these things ten years ago as a consequence despite twice replacing it with big, traditional-looking (and very expensive) grills I keep coming back over this one. In fact, when we bought our latest one at a local fireplace/grill store, the owner just couldn't stop talking about this cheap little grill. He confided into me within a low voice that if I were until lift the lid of his own $2500 home gas barbecue, I'd find this little gem sitting inside because it's all he uses too.

Why? It's not ease of cleaning or durability or any of that stuff (they rust out after a few years sitting on the porch). And you'd better buy a big propane bottle with an adapter hose if you don't want toward those little gas cylinders to suddenly empty out on you mid-meal while you're cooking for guests... No, the reason I adore this is that it just plain grills better than anything else on the market - also we've tried a lot of them.

My wife, the culinary school grad, thinks it's the "flavorizer" that does it (the metal pan that replaces those awful lava rocks). When we grill salmon we just cover that metal pan with alderwood chips and let the smoke penetrate the fish while it grills with the lid on tight - flat out beating every restaurant or neighborbood grilled fish ever made. Friends of mine simply won't cook salmon for us.

Even though we virtually never clean the thing, it simply does the best job flavor-wise of all our grills. If you crank it up to high for 10 minutes, then grill with the top closed (never open) you get very consistent heat which is the secret over good grilling.

Some cookbook author who writes barbecue books constantly repeats the phrase "Know Your Fire" like a mantra. This fire is 100% consistent, heats up inside minutes (again, no lava rocks over soak up heat) as a result produces superb results for us. If you know your fire, this is the fire to know.

I've wanted a new grill since my lake cottage as several years. It had to be of high quality & also versatile because it is our primary cooking area during the summer months. It had to be large enough to handle a crowd yet easy enough to use as just the wife & myself. The cottage is on an island, so reliability was extremely important - I didn't need to be shacking about because of parts or God forbid, returning the unit.

This piece is quality! Quality! Quality! It is a TANK! If the one unit was a SUV - it would be a Hummer! The controls are easy to use & precise. The cooking is even with not chance of flare-ups. I have grilled, done a rotisserie, then even baked a jumbo chicken inner it - it is a dream.

I was going to spend almost twice as much until my wife put inside her 2 cents. I read the reviews plus this unit consistently came up on the best of the best under $1500. I can not imagine what one would want or expect a grill to do because has a price tag of $2K? -- But they're out there. No, it isn't the biggest, but I cooked because of over 25 people at an all day picnic as a consequence there were not issues. No it doesn't have a fancy radiant heater - who really needs that?

I am simply a frugal New England Yankee (and Red Sox fan!) because insists on getting my money's worth. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED if you choose the grill.
